The Two Sisters

Aristide Maillol 1861-1944, was a French sculptor, painter, tapestry producer and printmaker. He took up sculpture as his eyesight was suffering under the design and weaving manufacture of tapestry, he also produced a large number of woodcuts. His preference in sculptor was the Greek style of antiquity which was illustrated as with this lithograph which is monogrammed in red crayon, probably produced in the first quarter of the 20th century. This signed with a monogram in red crayon on early lithographic paper this is not a late lithographic copy.
