Bartolome Esteban Murillo 1617- 1682, was a Spanish Baroque painter best known for his Religious works. This painting of Christ giving water to a lamb is in the manner of Murillo and certainly appears to be a copy of a master painting as yet unfound by our researcher. The picture depicts the Christ Child collecting water to give to the Lamb of God to sustain life. This is typical description of a passage in the Bible, John 1:29. John the Baptist see Christ and claims 'behold the Lamb of God', which is seen as a foundation of the message of the Christian faith. The symbol of the Lamb has been recognised since the middle ages and is viewed as the redeemer and judge, also representing the everlasting innocence of Christ. The images enclosed include the before and after restoration and the precious stones that were missing have been replaced using, lolite faceted oval, faceted oval citrine, green amethyst faceted oval, white topaz faceted oval, garnet faceted oval, smoky quartz faceted oval , African amethyst rose cut cabochon, Lapis Lazuli cabochon, Ametrine faceted oval, lemon quartz faceted round. The reverse side of the copper panel used for the oval painting, probably early 18th Century, retains a script which appears to be Latin remains undescribed. The Silver embellishment at the top has been left in place as found . This painting is unsigned.
