Reclining Nude

Alfred Aaron Wolmark R.A. 1877-1961, was a portrait and decorative genre subject painter. Born in Warsaw and travelled to England in 1894 where he remained. He was a painter of impressionist style works and painted in the manner of the Fauves colors being influenced whilst visiting France he also painted with a thick impasto which resulted in his works being exhibited alongside that of Van Gogh, much to his enjoyment, he painted in rich colors including historical Biblical subjects. This portrait is painted with an impressionist influence and with heavy impasto. The frame is typical of the period of early 20th century, Bloomsbury manner, hand decorated, the frame is shown here before undergoing a small amount of conservation which was very successful.
