Lord David Cecil

Albert Daniel Rutherston 1881-1953, was an English artist who painted, portraits, landscapes, illustrated books and designed stage sets. Two of his brothers were Sir William Rothenstein and Charles Rutherston, an artist and a collector of art. He knew a great many academics and notable people and Lord David Cecil was one, this portrait of Cecil was carried out in 1945, he was a prominent author, historian and scholar, he attended Oxford where he probably met Rutherston and as a result this portrait was produced. The picture is mounted in a imitation tortoiseshell frame.
