William Thomas Wood 1877-1958, was an English landscape and still life painter who studied at the Regent Street School of Art and then in Italy. 

He was known for painting still lifes in watercolour and oil, this picture was exhibited in 1924 and catalogued as Beauties Roses, an accomplished artist who could produce fine gradations of light as shown here.
