Sue Read (b. 1941) is an English watercolourist known for her contemplative, small-scale still-life paintings. A member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours (RI), her delicate work features everyday objects like porcelain, eggs, and glass. Early life and education Born: Susan Melia was born in 1941 in Slough, Buckinghamshire. Education: She attended Aylesbury Grammar School before studying art at: High Wycombe School of Art (1959–1963) The Royal West of England Academy (1963–1964) Family: In 1965, she married Robert J. Read and later adopted his surname for her professional work. The couple had three sons. Artistic career and style Professional since 1980: Read has been a professional painter since 1980, primarily focusing on still-life works.
