Based in a converted dairy in Sharpthorne, close to East Grinstead and the beautiful Ashdown Forest, Pheasant Framing has been the area's premier picture framer for over 40 years. With a team that includes artists, skilled engineers and extensive conservation and framing knowledge, they are able to undertake the cleaning and restoration of oil paintings and watercolours using a team of dedicated experts.
Their conservation credentials are second to none — they frame to museum conservation standards, using only acid free mount boards, tapes and backings, and water white glass as standard. They understand the importance of protecting artwork from pollutants and the damaging effects of ultraviolet light.

Andrew Wheeler — Fine Art on Paper Restoration
Andrew Wheeler is a Bristol-based conservator with over 55 years of experience in the restoration and conservation of fine prints, watercolours, drawings and maps. He trained at the West of England College of Art before joining Frost & Reed Ltd. as a trainee picture restorer, and comes from a family with a tradition in picture restoration stretching back to around 1895.
A member of the South Western Federation of Museums and Art Galleries, Andrew has built a reputation for rescuing and conserving valuable works of art on paper — sometimes in very poor condition — for fine art dealers in the UK and the USA, as well as private and public collections.
His comprehensive services include:
- Cleaning, repair, restoration and conservation of watercolours, prints, maps, drawings, etchings, engravings, lithographs, pastels and posters
- Deacidification and removal of harmful acidity
- Delamination — removal of brittle or acidic backings
- Fumigation to kill active mould spores
