The picture is of The houses of Parliament, London the tower of Big Ben, probably the most famous clock tower in the World, accompanied by an AEC Routemaster Bus which was either a 159 or 170, both of which travelled over Westminster Bridge in the 1970's when this picture was more than likely painted. This picture is painted in the post impressionist manner and has a French styled stretcher so our assumption it may have been painted by a French artist visiting London as a tourist or exhibiting painter, many such painters worked on the most famous London tourist attractions when visiting or exhibiting in London, this is more than probable because we have another work in our collection, not yet listed, by Marcel Dyf who exhibited at the Frost and Reed Gallery in the 1950's and painted the Palace whilst exhibiting at their Gallery which was on the other side of Green Park. Artists are well known for their variety of work and whenever or wherever they travel they always carry a sketchbook and/or paints and consequently this painting we believe to be a scene not to be missed when visiting the United Kingdom.
